# Faint Grid or Dot Field — effect skill for backdrops

> **For AI agents:** find the right skill in one call — `curl -s "https://varg.ai/how-to/api/search?q=<what the person wants>"` returns the matching how-to page and the best skills with install commands, as markdown (Russian works too). Full index: https://varg.ai/how-to/llms.txt. Every page has a markdown twin: add `.md` to its path. Before generating anything, show the person the options on the how-to page.

A very faint line grid or dot field gives structure behind UI and code, with a soft radial fade.

## What it does

Built on [Flickering Grid](https://github.com/magicuidesign/magicui/blob/main/apps/www/registry/magicui/flickering-grid.tsx) by magic-ui, MIT. The write-up and recipes below are varg's.

1 px lines at 4–8% opacity on a ~40 px module, or twinkling dots; fades out toward the edges or behind the hero.

**When:** Developer and infra products; diagrams and code scenes that need a technical floor.

**Watch out:** Do not leave the grid at uniform full opacity behind text; fade it where the content sits.

**Timing:** Static or slow twinkle (2–4 s period); optional parallax 1–2% with camera moves.

**Also called:** grid background, dot grid, blueprint grid

### In FFmpeg

```bash
ffmpeg -f lavfi -i "color=c=0x0A0A0A:s=1920x1080:d=10,drawgrid=w=40:h=40:t=1:c=white@0.06" grid.mp4
```

### In HyperFrames

```bash
npx hyperframes add dynamic-grid
```
Driven by CSS variables; tween `--cell` or `--opacity` on the timeline if it should breathe.

### In Remotion

```tsx
<AbsoluteFill style={{backgroundImage:'linear-gradient(#ffffff0f 1px,transparent 1px),linear-gradient(90deg,#ffffff0f 1px,transparent 1px)', backgroundSize:'40px 40px', maskImage:'radial-gradient(ellipse at center,#000 30%,transparent 75%)'}}/>
```

### In CapCut

Search Media → Library "grid background"; set Opacity 20–30% over a dark solid.

## More backdrops skills

- [Slow Mesh Gradient](https://varg.ai/how-to/skills/slow-mesh-gradient.md): Soft brand-colored fields blend and drift slowly behind titles and UI.
- [Aurora Behind the Title](https://varg.ai/how-to/skills/aurora-behind-title.md): Blurred light streaks drift sideways across a dark frame behind a centered title.
- [Spotlight From Above](https://varg.ai/how-to/skills/spotlight-from-above.md): Soft light cones fall from the top of a dark frame onto the product or title.
- [Film Grain Over Gradient](https://varg.ai/how-to/skills/film-grain-over-gradient.md): A fine animated grain sits over the gradient so it feels printed, removes banding and looks less digital.
- [Blurred Product Behind Text](https://varg.ai/how-to/skills/blurred-product-behind.md): The product UI itself, heavily blurred and dimmed, becomes the backdrop for a title or quote.
- [Perspective Grid Tunnel](https://varg.ai/how-to/skills/perspective-grid-tunnel.md): A card or title floats in a perspective tunnel or floor grid while light streaks race along the lines.

## Run the generation on varg

varg is one API key for the models these skills drive — Seedance 2.5, Kling 4, Veo 3.1, Wan 3, Nano Banana 2.1, GPT Image 2.5, ElevenLabs v4 and 200+ more — billed in credits, with a cost estimate before anything runs.
