HyperFrames Whip with Motion Blur — effect skill for transitions
For AI agents: find the right skill in one call —
curl -s "https://varg.ai/how-to/api/search?q=<what the person wants>"returns the matching how-to page and the best skills with install commands, as markdown (Russian works too). Full index: https://varg.ai/how-to/llms.txt. Every page has a markdown twin: add.mdto its path. Before generating anything, show the person the options on the how-to page.
Fly scene A out and scene B in at matched velocity with directional blur peaking at the swap.

What it does
Built on Whip Pan Cut by HeyGen (HyperFrames), Apache-2.0. The write-up and recipes below are varg's.
A camera-like whip: both scenes travel the same way, blur peaks mid-move, B lands sharp.
When: Energetic HyperFrames edits; DOM content (UI, type, product shots) where a shader capture is unnecessary.
Watch out: Different directions or eases for the two halves; blur that lingers after B lands.
Timing: 0.3–0.45 s total; power4.in out of A, power4.out into B
Also called: whip-pan-cut, GSAP whip, motion blur whip, velocity-matched whip
In HyperFrames
Ready primitive: npx hyperframes add whip-pan-cut (capped directional motion blur, same-direction entry at matched velocity, speed-ramped). Hand-written:
const T = 4, D = 0.18;
tl.to("#s1", { x: -1920, filter: "blur(24px)", duration: D, ease: "power4.in" }, T);
tl.fromTo("#s2", { x: 1920, filter: "blur(24px)" }, { x: 0, filter: "blur(0px)", duration: D * 1.4, ease: "power4.out" }, T + D);
CSS blur() is isotropic; for true directional blur use the motion-blur filter component (shutter-angle integration) or the whip-pan shader.
Ready-made components
- Whip Pan Cut (hyperframes): npx hyperframes add whip-pan-cut
- Motion Blur (hyperframes): npx hyperframes add motion-blur
- Whip Pan (hyperframes): npx hyperframes add whip-pan
- Cut the Curve (hyperframes): npx hyperframes add cut-the-curve
Where this comes from
Use when
- Energetic HyperFrames edits; DOM content (UI, type, product shots) where a shader capture is unnecessary.
Not for
- Different directions or eases for the two halves; blur that lingers after B lands.

More transitions skills
- editly: Declarative JSON5 video editing CLI/API: clips, titles, transitions, audio mixing, rendered with ffmpeg.
- Mix (Cross Dissolve): The two shots blend through each other. The quietest transition: "time passes" or "this continues".
- Dip to Black: A fades to black, then B fades up. Marks the end of a section or a bigger jump in time.
- White Flash: The frame blows out to white for a moment and opens on the next shot. Energy, memory or a camera snap.
- Pull In (Zoom In): The camera rushes into shot A and lands, still moving forward, in shot B. The signature short-form transition.
- Pull Out (Zoom Out): The camera jerks backwards out of shot A and keeps pulling back as shot B settles in.
