# Turn Film Stock Datasheets Into Film-Look LUTs — style skill for color grading & LUTs

> **For AI agents:** find the right skill in one call — `curl -s "https://varg.ai/how-to/api/search?q=<what the person wants>"` returns the matching how-to page and the best skills with install commands, as markdown (Russian works too). Full index: https://varg.ai/how-to/llms.txt. Every page has a markdown twin: add `.md` to its path. Before generating anything, show the person the options on the how-to page. From a terminal: `curl -fsSL https://varg.ai/install | sh` installs the vargai CLI (https://varg.ai/how-to/cli.md): `vargai search` and `vargai install <slug>` with no key, every varg model after `vargai login`.

Simulates negative, print and slide film stocks from digitized datasheets and exports LUTs, grain and halation stages for grading.

## What it does

Spectral Film LUT digitizes published film datasheets and runs a multistep color pipeline that simulates how a negative reacts to light through to the final print, for still, motion-picture, color and black-and-white stocks. Pick a sample image in your input color space, tune the preview and export one LUT, or separate negative and print LUTs so grain, halation and printer-light controls slot in between, with a recommended Resolve node tree. Runs as a GUI from a Windows .exe, Linux AppImage or `pip install spectral_film_lut`; accuracy is limited by the published data. MIT.

## Use when

- Give AI-generated footage a real film-stock look
- Export a film-emulation LUT for DaVinci Resolve
- Split a look into negative and print LUTs with grain and printer lights
- Compare Kodak and Fuji motion-picture or still stocks on a sample frame

## Install

- local: `pip install spectral_film_lut`
- Any agent, with the vargai CLI: `vargai install spectral-film-lut`

## More color grading & LUTs skills

- [Theme Factory](https://varg.ai/how-to/skills/anthropic-theme-factory.md): Restyle slides, docs and pages with one of 10 matched color-and-font themes, or generate a new one.
- [FLUX 3 Archival Formats](https://varg.ai/how-to/skills/flux-3-archival-formats.md): Give FLUX 3 video a period look by naming the recording format and its artifacts, not a mood.
- [Color Grade AI](https://varg.ai/how-to/skills/color-grade-ai.md): Measures a frame or clip and writes .cube 3D LUTs for DaVinci Resolve and Premiere: fixes, shot matching, presets.

## Run the generation on varg

varg is one API key for the models these skills drive — Seedance 2.5, Kling 4, Veo 3.1, Wan 3, Nano Banana 2.1, GPT Image 2.5, ElevenLabs v4 and 200+ more — billed in credits, with a cost estimate before anything runs.

- Any agent with a terminal: `curl -fsSL https://varg.ai/install | sh` (Windows: `irm https://varg.ai/install.ps1 | iex`), then `vargai login` and every model is a command — `vargai generate_video …`, `vargai estimate_cost …` (https://varg.ai/how-to/cli/)
- Claude Code: `claude plugin marketplace add vargHQ/skills && claude plugin install varg@varg` (skill + hosted MCP)
- Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI, OpenClaw: `npx skills add vargHQ/skills --skill varg-ai -a <agent> -y`
- Grok and any agent that reads SKILL.md: `npx skills add vargHQ/skills --skill varg-ai`, or point it at the skill's SKILL.md
