# Terminal Session Run — effect skill for code & terminal

> **For AI agents:** find the right skill in one call — `curl -s "https://varg.ai/how-to/api/search?q=<what the person wants>"` returns the matching how-to page and the best skills with install commands, as markdown (Russian works too). Full index: https://varg.ai/how-to/llms.txt. Every page has a markdown twin: add `.md` to its path. Before generating anything, show the person the options on the how-to page.

A terminal types a command, then streams real-looking log output with green checks.

- **Type:** [Effect](https://varg.ai/how-to/effects.md) · [Code & terminal](https://varg.ai/how-to/browse/skills/code.md)
- **Slug:** `terminal-session-run`
- **Status:** live
- **Publisher:** HeyGen (community)
- **License:** Apache-2.0
- **Source:** https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/tree/main/registry/components/terminal-simulator
- **Works in:** Claude Code, Claude.ai, Codex, Cursor, OpenClaw, Gemini CLI, Any MCP client, varg Studio
- **Requires:** ffmpeg, HyperFrames (npx hyperframes), Remotion, CapCut (by hand)
- **Cost:** Free — the take renders locally; generated footage, if any, bills by the model

## What it does

Built on [Terminal Simulator](https://github.com/heygen-com/hyperframes/tree/main/registry/components/terminal-simulator) by HeyGen (HyperFrames), Apache-2.0. The write-up and recipes below are varg's.

Dark terminal with traffic lights, prompt types at human speed, output lines roll in faster, old lines scroll off the top.

**When:** CLIs, deploy tools, agents that run in the terminal.

**Watch out:** Do not stream walls of logs; keep 4–8 meaningful lines and fake-skip the rest with "…".

**Timing:** Typing 50–100 ms/char; output lines every 80–200 ms; 0.5 s pause before the final success line.

**Also called:** CLI demo, terminal window, command run

### In FFmpeg

```bash
# record a reproducible session with VHS (uses ffmpeg under the hood)
# demo.tape: Set TypingSpeed 75ms\nType "npx varg render"\nEnter\nSleep 3s
vhs demo.tape
```

### In HyperFrames

```bash
npx hyperframes add terminal-simulator
```
Or `code-terminal-run` for one command with a token-chrome panel.

### In Remotion

```tsx
// npx shadcn@latest add @remocn/terminal-simulator
<TerminalSimulator commands={[{cmd:'npx varg render', output:['✓ scenes 4','✓ audio','✓ done in 38s']}]}/>
```

### In CapCut

Record the real terminal (or a VHS tape), trim the waits, speed up output 2×, zoom on the final line.

## Use when

- CLIs, deploy tools, agents that run in the terminal.

## Not for

- Do not stream walls of logs; keep 4–8 meaningful lines and fake-skip the rest with "…".

## Install

- Claude Code: `claude plugin marketplace add vargHQ/skills && claude plugin install varg@varg`
- Codex: `npx skills add vargHQ/skills --skill varg-video-edit-library -a codex -y`

## Run the generation on varg

varg is one API key for the models these skills drive — Seedance 2.5, Kling 4, Veo 3.1, Wan 3, Nano Banana 2.1, GPT Image 2.5, ElevenLabs v4 and 200+ more — billed in credits, with a cost estimate before anything runs.
