Velocity Edit — effect skill for transitions
For AI agents: find the right skill in one call —
curl -s "https://varg.ai/how-to/api/search?q=<what the person wants>"returns the matching how-to page and the best skills with install commands, as markdown (Russian works too). Full index: https://varg.ai/how-to/llms.txt. Every page has a markdown twin: add.mdto its path. Before generating anything, show the person the options on the how-to page.
Trend: speed curves on every clip (fast-slow-fast) synced to the beat, often with shake and flash on hits.

What it does
Built on Beat Freeze Cut by HeyGen (HyperFrames), Apache-2.0. The write-up and recipes below are varg's.
Each clip rushes in, drops into slow motion on the beat and rushes out; transitions are hidden in the fast parts.
When: Dance, car, sport, gaming and fan edits on TikTok/Reels.
Watch out: Footage below 60 fps for the slow parts; curves that ignore the beat.
Timing: Fast parts 2–5×, slow parts 0.2–0.5×, slow point exactly on the beat
Also called: velocity, velocity transition, speed curve edit, Montage curve, Hero curve, Bullet curve
In FFmpeg
Per clip: 3× in, 0.4× on the beat, 3× out, then concat clips (pitch kept by atempo; often the music replaces clip audio):
ffmpeg -i clip.mp4 -filter_complex \
"[0:v]split=3[s1][s2][s3];\
[s1]trim=0:1.2,setpts=(PTS-STARTPTS)/3[v1];\
[s2]trim=1.2:1.6,setpts=(PTS-STARTPTS)/0.4,minterpolate=fps=60[v2];\
[s3]trim=1.6:3,setpts=(PTS-STARTPTS)/3[v3];\
[v1][v2][v3]concat=n=3:v=1:a=0,fps=30[v]" -map "[v]" -an part.mp4
In HyperFrames
rate lane in data-automation with points like {t:0,v:3},{t:0.4,v:0.4},{t:0.8,v:3}; Studio speed presets include Montage, Hero, Bullet, Jump cut, Flash in, Flash out.
In Remotion
Per-frame speed function → accumulated trimBefore (Remotion speed-ramp snippet), with the slow point at the beat frame; add shake/flash overlays on the beat.
In CapCut
Speed → Curve → Montage / Hero / Bullet / Jump Cut / Flash In / Flash Out (or Custom), align the slow point to Beats markers, then add Shake/Flash effects on hits.

More transitions skills
- editly: Declarative JSON5 video editing CLI/API: clips, titles, transitions, audio mixing, rendered with ffmpeg.
- Mix (Cross Dissolve): The two shots blend through each other. The quietest transition: "time passes" or "this continues".
- Dip to Black: A fades to black, then B fades up. Marks the end of a section or a bigger jump in time.
- White Flash: The frame blows out to white for a moment and opens on the next shot. Energy, memory or a camera snap.
- Pull In (Zoom In): The camera rushes into shot A and lands, still moving forward, in shot B. The signature short-form transition.
- Pull Out (Zoom Out): The camera jerks backwards out of shot A and keeps pulling back as shot B settles in.
