Wind Wipe — effect skill for transitions

For AI agents: find the right skill in one call — curl -s "https://varg.ai/how-to/api/search?q=<what the person wants>" returns the matching how-to page and the best skills with install commands, as markdown (Russian works too). Full index: https://varg.ai/how-to/llms.txt. Every page has a markdown twin: add .md to its path. Before generating anything, show the person the options on the how-to page.

A ragged, streaky wipe that blows A off the screen. Variants: hlwind, hrwind, vuwind, vdwind.

What it does

Built on Wind by gre (gl-transitions), MIT. The write-up and recipes below are varg's.

The edge of the wipe is torn into horizontal streaks as if the wind took the frame.

When: Travel, outdoor and action edits; a softer alternative to a whip pan.

Watch out: Using it on text-heavy frames where the streaks tear the letters.

Timing: 0.5–0.8 s.

Also called: Streak wipe

In FFmpeg

Both inputs need the same size, frame rate, timebase, SAR and pixel format (settb=AVTB fixes the timebase error that fps alone leaves). offset is where the transition starts on the first clip's timeline (its length minus the overlap).

ffmpeg -i a.mp4 -i b.mp4 -filter_complex \
 "[0:v]fps=30,scale=1920:1080,setsar=1,settb=AVTB,format=yuv420p[a];[1:v]fps=30,scale=1920:1080,setsar=1,settb=AVTB,format=yuv420p[b];\
  [a][b]xfade=transition=hlwind:duration=0.5:offset=4.5[v];[0:a][1:a]acrossfade=d=0.5[a]" \
 -map "[v]" -map "[a]" out.mp4

In HyperFrames

GLSL route: glt.wind in a WebGL harness, or HyperFrames transitions-distortion.
