Sound Match Cut — effect skill for cuts & pacing

For AI agents: find the right skill in one call — curl -s "https://varg.ai/how-to/api/search?q=<what the person wants>" returns the matching how-to page and the best skills with install commands, as markdown (Russian works too). Full index: https://varg.ai/how-to/llms.txt. Every page has a markdown twin: add .md to its path. Before generating anything, show the person the options on the how-to page.

Two different sounds that rhyme (a scream and a train whistle) bridge the cut and link the two scenes.

What it does

The sound of A morphs into a similar sound in B at the cut point; the picture change rides on the sound.

When: Scene transitions with a twist, comedic links, trailers.

Watch out: If the two sounds do not share pitch or rhythm the link reads as noise.

Timing: Hard cut on the sound peak; 50–200 ms audio crossfade

Also called: sound bridge match, audio match cut, sonic match

In FFmpeg

Hard-cut picture; crossfade the two rhyming sounds over 0.15 s:

ffmpeg -i a.mp4 -i b.mp4 -filter_complex \
"[0:v][1:v]concat=n=2:v=1:a=0[v];[0:a][1:a]acrossfade=d=0.15:c1=qsin:c2=qsin[a]" \
  -map "[v]" -map "[a]" out.mp4

Note: acrossfade overlaps the audio (o=1), so audio ends 0.15 s before video; pad with apad if needed.

In HyperFrames

Two <audio> clips overlapping by 0.15 s with data-fade-out / data-fade-in, picture cut on the same second.

In Remotion

Place the two sound effects as <Audio> in overlapping <Sequence>s around the cut frame; interpolate their volume over 4–6 frames.

In CapCut

Separate audio, drag the second sound under the cut and use Fade in/out on both audio clips.
