What it does
A short lesson from the varg SDK on mixing clips with ffmpeg while keeping sound in sync. Pre-trimming an input with -ss/-t and then applying relative trims drifted (38 s out instead of 36 s); the fix is to trim every segment from the full original with absolute timestamps, reset with setpts=PTS-STARTPTS, scale before trimming, and cut the audio once with atrim so the video segments add up to the audio length. It ships a ready filter_complex for inserting a generated scene into an original video.
Use when
- Stitching generated clips into an original video
- Inserting scenes at timestamps
- Any ffmpeg filter_complex work that trims or concatenates clips against one continuous audio track
