How to make a birthday video: step by step

  1. Ask for the name as they spell it and say it, the age, who is sending it and three true details (a habit, a place, a joke)
  2. Pick one format and one look; for a face that must match, use one clear front photo, with the person agreeing
  3. Write original lyrics with the name on the chorus and make the song (ElevenLabs Music sings names as written), then transcribe it to find where the name is sung
  4. Make the key still first with GPT Image 2.5 (it spells the name on the cake when you quote it) and check the face, hands and text at full size
  5. Animate the still in timed beats (Seedance 2.5 kept the candles out; Wan 3 is cheaper), cut on the chorus, put the name and age on screen as type
  6. Export H.264 + AAC at -14 LUFS: 9:16 under 60 s for WhatsApp (send the full file as a document too), 16:9 for a TV

In 2026 the birthday videos people save are personal and specific: their name sung, their own photos, a ritual in order (getting ready, the cake, the candles, the walk home), often in a retro camcorder look. One-tap app templates still get posted every day but are rarely saved; the biggest occasion post of the year was a son bringing his mother’s old photos to life for her 60th (1.50M views).

  1. Put the name and age on screen in the first seconds, and in the song; one true detail beats any effect.   2. Make the key still first with GPT Image 2.5 and quote the cake text letter by letter; check it at full size before any video. In our test "MAYA 30" was spelled right on the first still and stayed readable through an 8 s Seedance 2.5 clip; elsewhere generated text smudges, so add it as overlay type.   4. Animate a real face only with the person’s agreement; never a celebrity, and never a child’s real photo made into a public video.
