How to make viral ecommerce videos for TikTok and Reels

For AI agents: find the right skill in one call — curl -s "https://varg.ai/how-to/api/search?q=<what the person wants>" returns the matching how-to page and the best skills with install commands, as markdown (Russian works too). Full index: https://varg.ai/how-to/llms.txt. Every page has a markdown twin: add .md to its path. Before generating anything, show the person the options on the how-to page.

How to make viral ecommerce videos for TikTok and Reels: step by step

  1. Answer four questions first: where it runs, what is true about the product (claim, price, offer), what assets exist (photos, footage, a face or voice), and the budget
  2. Pick the angle from the buyer's own words (buyer × problem × promise); match the face's age to the claim and the room to the problem
  3. Write 3+ hooks of different types as frame + line + text, with the product or result on screen by second 2
  4. Script 15–30 s: hook, bridge, demo shown more than once with one number, real proof, one CTA; check the platform rules (AI labels, TikTok Shop bans, FTC)
  5. Quote the cost, then make stills first and video only for approved concepts; the real product photo on every shot, one model per character, a reject pass against the photo
  6. Edit: captions in the safe zone, -14 LUFS, 9:16 plus a 4:5 cut, one MP4 per hook; launch different concepts and judge after 1–3× target CPA

What works now (researched 2026-10-27)

In late 2026 the product videos that sell show the product or the result in the first two seconds, look like something a person filmed, and say one specific thing. Unboxing and hands-on demos win most often on Meta (9.8% and 8.1% hit rate against 6.5% for a talking testimonial). What changed: Meta now counts look-alike ads as one ad, TikTok Shop bans AI voices and still slideshows, and an AI person may never deliver a testimonial. The script and the angle matter more than the polish or whether the face is real.

  1. Ask four things before making anything: where it runs, what is true about the product, what assets exist, and the budget. Default the rest and say so. In 10 isolated agent runs, agents either asked 11–16 unprioritized questions or, told not to ask, invented specs and prices; where it runs changes the rules on AI voices, prices and music. (varg research, 10 isolated Claude Code runs (Oct 2026))
  2. Put the product or the result on screen by second 2, and say the promise out loud and as text. TikTok: state the value in 3 s, finish the hook by 6 s; 90% of ad recall is captured in the first 6 s. Meta: a hook in both picture and sound gives 1.5x purchase intent. (TikTok, creative best practices)
  3. List the benefits, show the product more than once, keep the brand under a quarter of the runtime, and use speech plus music with a spoken and written CTA. Meta and Toluna's Reels study: benefits 5.3x, brand on screen under 25% of the runtime 4.8x, product shown more than once 2.7x, speech + music 2.1x, CTA 1.9x odds of top purchase intent. (Meta for Business, Reels creative strategies)
  4. Match the face to the claim and the room to the problem. "You cannot use a 22-year-old to sell joint support": energy is the kitchen at 6 am, sleep a dark bedroom, bloating the bathroom mirror, joints the stairs, private problems the car (operator rules, 36.6K views, 1,160 bookmarks). (@CEO_Vlad on X (Oct 2026))
  5. Test different concepts (buyer, angle, format, first frame), not one video with new captions. Meta groups ads that look or feel alike as variations of one creative; only 5–8% of ads become winners in Motion's 2026 benchmark of 578,750 creatives. (Meta for Business, demystifying creative diversification)
  6. Never write a first-person testimonial or result for an AI person; label realistic AI people and voices. The FTC rule bans fake testimonials, AI ones included (about $51,744 per violation); TikTok rejects unlabelled realistic AI ads; New York requires synthetic-performer disclosure since 9 June 2026. (FTC, final rule on fake reviews and testimonials)
  7. Keep the real product in every AI shot: the photo on every generation, the label spelled out, slow cameras, the real packshot on the last second. Models invent label text unless the reference is readable ("that's where most people's ads die"), and showing a product different from what ships breaks TikTok Shop's misleading-content rules. Customer language mining (agent)

Find the buyer's exact words for the angle and the hooks, before any script From @lifemaximised on X (286K views, 4,657 bookmarks).

Search Reddit, YouTube comments, Amazon reviews, TikTok comments, and niche forums for people discussing problems related to {PRODUCT CATEGORY}. Extract the exact words they use when describing the problem, what they have tried, why those solutions failed, what outcome they want, and what would make them buy. Format this as: Quote / Pain Point / Desired Outcome / Funnel Stage / Possible Ad Angle.

Ad breakdown of a winner or a competitor (agent)

Decode why a video works before remaking its structure Adapted from @maxxmalist on X.

Role: Expert Direct Response Creative Director and Ad Strategist. Task: Perform a granular breakdown of this video ad by analyzing the visual frames, voiceover, and on-screen text. 1. Pain Points & Psychology: surface problems, deep emotional pains, the villain. 2. The Marketing Angle: core narrative (secret discovery, transformation story or logical comparison), the new mechanism, UGC trust vs brand authority. 3. Hook Breakdown: the visual and auditory pattern interrupt in the first 3 seconds, and 3 alternative hooks (curiosity, result, fear). 4. Sequence & CTA: the bridge from problem to solution, the exact call to action and any risk reversal.

Four questions, then a plan (agent)

The first message an agent sends for any ecommerce video request

Before making anything, ask me exactly four questions in one message: 1) where this runs (TikTok Shop video, TikTok ad, Meta ad, organic), 2) what is true about the product (what it does, the one claim I can prove, the live price and offer), 3) what I have (photos with a readable label, any footage, my face or voice, real reviews), 4) my budget. Then propose 3 different concepts (buyer, angle, format, first frame), each with a 3-layer hook (frame, spoken line, text), a 15–30 s beat sheet and a cost estimate. Never invent specs, prices or reviews, and never give an AI person a first-person result.

Trending formats to remake

To remake one: download the example with the media-download skill, take a frame a second and the transcript, write a beat list (time, shot, camera, on-screen text, sound), keep what the format needs, swap in the person's product or character (never the creator's face, voice, logo or footage), show the beat list and stills before spending, then make it with the skill named below.

  1. Phone-real UGC vlog: A 15 s end-of-day selfie clip: already mid-motion, the product beside the face, a macro label beat, a small real reaction. Why it spreads: Reads as content, not an ad; realism comes from camera flaws, breaths and a low-energy delivery. Keep: The four beats and the realism block; swap the creator, the room and the product facts (no results claims). Make it with Open-source alternative to Arcads: AI UGC ads (ai-ugc-ad-video).
  2. Product in an unexpected world: One consistent visual world with the product dropped into impossible situations: frozen in ice, smashed open. Why it spreads: A visual stop with the product as the subject; one world reused across posts builds recognition. Keep: The single stunt and the reveal; your product from its real photo. Make it with Turn a product photo into a product video ad (product-photo-to-video).
  3. Recurring character world: The same AI character living through the seasons; the product is a way into that world. Why it spreads: People follow the character and come back; the ad rides on attachment. Keep: One character and one place; the product appears as part of the world. Make it with Consistent Characters (varg-consistent-characters).
  4. Teacher question: Filmed as if from a lecture seat: a student asks the exact problem, the professor explains the mechanism. Why it spreads: Explains why the product works without looking like an ad; fits products that need explaining. Keep: The covert camera angle and the student's question in the buyer's words. Make it with Ecommerce video ad skills for Claude Code and AI agents (ecommerce-video-ads).
  5. AI street interview: A stranger stopped with a mic; the question hooks, the product appears after ~10 s. Why it spreads: Social proof as content; the hedge-stall-admit script feels real. Keep: The question and the honest answer; never present the AI passer-by as a real customer with results. Make it with Open-source alternative to Arcads: AI UGC ads (ai-ugc-ad-video).
    • Example to remake: @mikefutia on X, 2026-07-27, 12K views, 178 saves: AI street interviews: the passer-by hedges, stalls and admits something instead of listing benefits; each finished clip is fed back as the reference for the next so the face holds.
  6. Camcorder self-deprecating vlog: DV-camera look, propped camera, clumsy zooms, self-mocking lines, one macro insert of the product. Why it spreads: Anti-polish looks native; Kling 4 renders it first try at a fraction of Seedance's cost. Keep: The six-shot rhythm and the macro insert with no dialogue. Make it with Open-source alternative to Arcads: AI UGC ads (ai-ugc-ad-video).
